A Blogger’s Chronicle – Aaron Abber’s Online Journey
The following is an excerpt from:
This is my Online Adventure
by Aaron Abber
For the last several years I have struggled with illness, though through the end of last year we have made it pretty well. This year has been tougher.
Because of illness I have barely worked since January and I’ve made very little money. We were depending on my wife’s income until earlier this month when she became ill and is now unable to work.
This blog is my online diary of my day-to-day experiences, plans, thoughts.
I decided to pick a topic with profit potential that I also knew about and enjoyed to make my living. My goal is to get an immediate lump sum of at least $5,000 to take care of our current bills and then get my site to a dependable profit of $10,000 or more per month as quickly as possible, then to take my business and make it hands free–letting others do the work while I only did the things I wished to do. That way my ability to earn money isn’t as important.
I began by looking at various topics I was interested in and seeing which ones had profit potential for the long haul. Because of my previous experiences I already knew I wanted to have two basic sources for visitors/subscribers/customers: Search engines and Direct Email Marketing.
I decided on a general topic of marriage and settled on FullTiltMarriage.com as my website.
I used Mindomo to mind map out my plan in four key areas: Resources the site will provide, Support Structures I need in place, Monetization on the site and Marketing the site.
I urge you to use mind mapping software to brainstorm your ideas. It really does work to open up your mind and unleash your creativity. I first learned about it from the book Jump Start Your Brian.
I also decided to only use online resources for all of my tasks so that in the future I would be able to access all of my documents/work/email online, access them from an iPhone (or similar) and share them with virtual employees anywhere in the world.
My planning complete, I registered my domain name yesterday, and have set up two free blogs (this one and YourMarriage.WordPress.com) to aid with marketing.
Today I will get my hosting set up (via BlueHost.com) and start working on the various set-ups I need to get done. If I get bored I may begin writing a couple articles to post later.
