| Internet Business Guide Review |
 Just because a business has an Internet presence does not mean it classifies as eCommerce. There are eCommerce businesses; and businesses with a strong eCommerce component like the one below. In the description below you’ll note that 66% of sales require a phone call. Meaning only 33% are completed through the website without the aid of other forms of communication with the customer.
Recently, I’ve been consulting with an online Italian furniture store. The business has the same situation. 2/3 of sales require a phone conversation with the customer. I have been developing a plan that would reduce the phone time and completion of more sales through the website. My personal criteria is to be an eCommerce business at least 80% of sales must be completed through the website; without the aid of other forms of communication.
I’m not sure if I can reduce either of these businesses to that 80% benchmark. However, I am certain that they can increase the percentage of sales completed through the website well above their current 33%.
One basic implementation is to increase the amount of product description. Target does an excellent job with descriptions in their online furniture store. A second is more use of visual information provided in their Online Furniture Store. This category of Internet business is ripe for the advantages of Web 2.0 for marketing an online business. Products sold on this website are top of the line & very competitive in pricing. Profit margins are about 400%. Extensive marketing efforts over the past 4 years has taken this website to a top page rank in major search engines.
This online furniture store also owns another URL which directs traffic to the site. Services by the website include: A fully integrated, user friendly e-commerce website. Website includes an excellent admin back-end which is fully automated & has a contact management system to enable you to manage all the database systems.
