| This How to Write and Publish a Book web site for sale was a hobby and to experiment with search engine optimization techniques. After 4 months the owner had it to the top 10 in Google for four primary keyword phrases.
Niche market is writing and publishing books. I’m selling it because I’ve lost interest in the niche and am on to other things. Top Adsense months were $1500. Other affiliate income ranges between $90-250/month. Current Adsense revenue is about $470/month, with the decrease mostly due to neglect of the site.
The owner has spent about two hours total on the site in the past 3 months. Top daily unique visitors was 900-1000/day; currently about 400. Getting the visitor rate back to 1000 (and beyond) would just require adding 1 article a day and using several other SEO promotion strategies – total of about 2 hours a day for the first two weeks; 1 hour a day for next month; and 2-3 hours a week after that to maintain the flow. The owner will tell you exactly what you need to do; both to maintain the site and to increase the traffic to the site. The owner uses the Joomla Content management system, so adding articles requires no programming knowledge. In fact, he’ll give you a step-by-step guide to increasing traffic to the site. All you have to do is follow the instructions.
The current email list is about 3500 people. The owner has done NOTHING with this list, so it’s likely the majority of these people will drop away when transferring the list to you. This How To Write A Book website uses AWeber to manage the list (a list management system), so you’ll need to get your own account or use a different list management system. Figure on building your own list so that you can communicate with them regularly.
How you will increase the monthly revenue from the site:
1. Follow the SEO steps the owner provides you to increase the traffic
2. Add more affiliate products (it’s all Adsense revenue now). This step alone should dramatically increase your revenue, especially if you keep building and using the mailing list.
3. Either joint venture with someone, or create your own “How to publish a book” guide. About half the comments posted on the site are people asking “How do I publish my book?” Give them an inexpensive and simple guide as an E-book and you can sell dozens every day.
4. Create a membership site (easy with Joomla). After you build up a list, you can offer additional services to members only. If you want, the owner will tell you how to become a book publisher.
You can offer low-cost publishing services to aspiring authors who become members of the site. The owner hosts the site now and can continue to host the site for one year at no cost to you. You can choose to move it to your own server or hosting company any time within that year. He will transfer the domain name to you and licenses for all the software that’s used within Joomla (they all have free lifetime updates). How do you get articles for the site?
The owner searches the Internet for good articles, including article directories. If he finds a good one, he’ll ask the author for permission to re-publish the article. They rarely say no because of the free publicity. You can also subscribe to writing web sites and blogs, where you’ll find a plethora of good material. With the right SEO techniques, you’ll continue to own certain keywords in Google.
Then, by following my guidelines on using social networks (Facebook, twitter, etc.), you can pretty easily double the traffic to the site. It’s a good, solid niche with little competition. Writers typically don’t do technology, and SEO/Web geeks can’t write. The foundation is there. All you need to do is add water and watch it grow |
