Internet Business Guide Review

Search engines are the yellow pages of online business. You can pay to advertise your business through a pay-per-click campaign, or you can create an interesting, useful website that meets the needs of a targeted group of customers and then wait for the search engines and Internet to do the work for you. Serious business owners do both.

Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising
Pay-per click advertising is a great way for businesses to draw traffic and get their name known while they wait for search engines to find and crawl their websites. Pay-per-click advertising is a lot like renting a billboard for your business: Prime real estate positioning costs more. The business owner creates the pay-per-click ads, and they appear under the sponsored results section of a search engine results page. The search engine displays these results prominently and in order according to the amount of money bid by the ad owner for a particular keyword.

If you sell “pro-audio products”, the most desirable keyword for your ads would most likely be “professional audio,” so the competition for this keyword would be fierce. Each contender bids a certain amount of money, usually a few cents to a few dollars, that must be paid to the search engine every time a user clicks on the ad for that business. The highest bidder gets top positioning on the search engine results page.

Pay-per-click keyword positioning changes constantly. You may outbid your nearest competitor for your keyword today, but he may outbid you for the remainder of the week. Some business owners choose to Continue reading »

Internet Business Guide Review
Starting an online business can be a daunting task and it is easy to get overwhelmed with the learning curve needed for the initial launch of your website. Underestimating the difficulty of starting a successful Internet business opportunity is one of the biggest barriers faced by entrepreneurs.

Many entrepreneurs think that starting a online business is easy. I know for a fact that it is far from easy. Oddly enough, many of the most successful websites fall into their success by accident.

Before starting it is important to list your reasons for wanting to create your Internet business. Having a mentor to help guide you through the steps to starting a business is invaluable. Every little bit of advice helps when you’re starting a business – provided it’s good advice.

Before you start your business you need to ask yourself some serious questions:

  • Can I handle the difficulties and challenges that come with starting a business?
  • Who is my audience/or business aimed at?
  • What software skills must I learn?
  • Am I starting full-time or part-time?

Starting an online business requires determination, motivation, and most importantly knowledge. Starting a business can be a complicated and daunting task. Not everyone has what it takes to be successful in business. Keep in my that nationally 1 on 5 new businesses fail within their first three years.

A lot of people fail because they jumped into business without honestly appraising their lifestyle to know if it fits in with running a business. It could also be possible that they underestimated the amount of learning involved in starting or running a business.

It is very important to discuss your intention of starting a business with your close family (and friends). Many a relationship has been broken because your spouse’ could not understand why all the attention seemed to switch from them to starting and nurturing a new online business. In my opinion close friends and family need to be put in the picture regarding what to expect when you’re starting a new business.

Have you got a good online business idea? You would think this an obvious question anyone thinking of starting a business will ask themselves. Many people seemingly run with the first idea that comes to their mind. They seldom pause to investigate the viability of their business idea. Most importantly the failure to analyze the “competition”. A good business idea is one that meets a customer’s need, fills an empty niche, solves someone’s problem or answers someone’s questions.

Internet Business Guide Review
The Owner of this Scuba Business For Sale has the right idea; but horrible implementation.Scuba Business For Sale

I give the owner of this Scuba Business For Sale a KUDO for using an SEO technique only used by perhaps 1% of websites; and that is using the full complement of “Meta Tags”.  Most website owners use the three common meta tags (meta title, meta description, meta keywords).  There are an additional dozen meta tags that can be used to boost this Scuba Business For Sale use of targeted keywords to rank just a bit higher than your competitors (e.g., meta copyright, meta author, meta classification).

However, the owner of this Scuba Business For Sale, even though he uses many of these advanced meta tags, flubbed implementation of the basic tags.  For example, he has targeted as meta keywords,  words that have no relevance (e.g., cms, content management system); which are probably the default keywords in the blogging software he used as a base program.  Further, he has modified the code to where robots have an impossible time trying to index the pages properly.  This is called the “code to text” ratio; which should be a minimum of 35% (% of text to code used to tell a browser how to display the information.)  The home page of this site is 7%.  Which means a robot can’t tell the forest (code) from the trees (text)!

The right idea of this Scuba Business For Sale is the “category”, “Scuba Packages”.  Two favorable items are the Vic Ratio (a measurement of supply and demand).

“Scuba Packages” – Average Monthly Searches: 37,422; Vicissitude Ratio: 29.03

The 2nd notable item is the number of “long tails” in this Scuba Business For Sale category: keyword phrases (scuba cayman, scuba naui, scuba aruba, scuba open water) that can be geo-targeted.  Geo targeting is a Web 2.0 application; as the Internet goes localized.  A simple use of this is when a visitor arrives at this site the IP address (geographic location) is read and can serve up specific content targeted to that visitor.  As a more specific example imagine the visitor IP is Los Angeles; then perhaps scuba packages in Southern California would be more relevant to the visitor; rather than scub packages in Florida.

I enjoy relating the story of another scuba business for sale; which the owner ended keeping rather than selling.  The site was making about $60,000 net per year by advertising scuba packages and receiving a percentage of the sale.  At the time the owner was thinking of selling his scuba business he was living in the mountains of Colorado.  Not much scuba diving available in Colorado.  :(   As he was considering selling he was researching a move to Phuket in Thailand; which is where he ended up relocating and triggered taking his scuba business for sale off the market.  He now lives like a King in an area of the world with fantastic scuba diving.  His scuba site now nets about $75,000 per year.

The Scuba Business For Sale listing below is overpriced.  It was originally listed at $12,0000; revised downward to $9,500; but an offer of $1,500 would be more in line.
