Personally I like this online business category. Not because I hunt, but because a “directory” site like this can earn “monthly recurring revenue”. Also, it is most likely “user generated content”. Hunting establishments posting their advertisement of services and products. That said, does this “hunting guide” category make economic sense? It would be nice to have a subscription type site like this, but making money online would be nicer! First check the Vic Ratio (the ratio of demand to supply).
“Hunting Guide” – Average Monthly Searches: 61,364; Vicissitude Ratio: 716.09
“Hunting” – Average Monthly Searches: 9,272,727; Vicissitude Ratio: 10.79
Generally the longer the longtail the less competition you face. In other words most often the competition for hunting guide would be less than for hunting.
In this case the inverse is correct. Less competition for hunting than for hunting guide. Sounds good for the listing below. However, as you read the listing information note the red flag. A very obvious red flag. It is.. “site was recently professionally re-built”. For more as to why this is a red flag, read the first article in my new series Some Parasites Are Good For Their Host. This article deals with reconstructing your URLs (the location of the page on the Internet). Change your URL and you lose the indexing in search results.
A site redesign is often a red flag and a reason to pass on this listing. Two other criteria warrant a closer look at this listing. It is the “first owner” and it is “6 years old”.
One piece of advice. I would suspect the final purchase price will have more to do with whether the current owner likes you, and will carry on his legacy. Take your time with due diligence and get to know the current owner. It will serve you financially in a lower selling price; and your new friend will be more than happy to guide you on your hunting to make money online. |
