Ballyhooing – the art of advertising or publicizing by sensational means

This Category was called “E-Commerce (Matching)”, but it seemed to cause confusion with readers. The term “Publishing/Directories” seems to provide more meaning, yet it does not fully describe this category of Internet Business Opportunity. There are “publishing” ecommerce businesses such as classified ad sites (a popular category for an eBusiness purchase), but they are merely a subcategory of this broader type of eBusiness. The broader examples include websites that provide a resource for a buyer of a service of a seller. For example, a “GeoDomain” website that provides information about local travel merchants and tourists. An example is the Eureka Springs GeoDomain. In this instance local travel merchants in Eureka Springs (e.g., local B&Bs, local attractions, local restaurants) pay an annual or monthly fee to the website owner to have their information available to tourists planning a trip to Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Another example is Law Firm Pro, which provides Trial Lawyers with information regarding Legal Professionals (e.g., Court Reporters, Private Investigators and Expert Witnesses). In this instance Legal Professional pay an annual fee to the website owner to have their profiles available to Trial Lawyers. Both websites elicit more than just “advertising” for “advertisers” and include more than a static directory listing. Perhaps instead of calling this category “Publishing/Directories” or the old name “Matching” it should be called “ballyhooing” (the art of advertising or publicizing by sensational means).

Then again, that would surely cause greater confusion.
